Dr. Mojtaba Akhtari is a Hematologist/Oncologist with medical and hematology/oncology training and experience in the United Kingdom and United States of America. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Medical Oncology. Currently he is working at Loma Linda Cancer Center and University Hospital. He is the Chief of Adult Hematopietic Stem Cell Transplant. He was also a member of adult bone marrow transplantation team at UNMC in Omaha, NE, and USC in Los Angeles, CA. Dr. Oved completed scientific and clinical training that included tenures as a Fulbright Fellow with the Weizmann Institute in Israel, the NYU School of Medicine with two years as a Howard Hughes Medical Fellow, followed by a residency in Pediatrics at NYP Weill Cornell Medical College. During his residency, he developed an interest in more translational questions working with Dr. James Bussel to test a novel combination of dexamethasone and rituximab for pediatric patients with chronic idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP).
