Dr. Malcovati is an Associate Professor of Hematology at the University of Pavia Medical School and with special interest and expertise in myeloid neoplasms, in particular, myelodysplastic syndromes and myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative neoplasms. Dr. Malcovati's research group has made a significant contribution to understanding the molecular basis of myeloid neoplasms and to the integration of somatic mutations in the clinical management of patients.

Dr. Oved completed scientific and clinical training that included tenures as a Fulbright Fellow with the Weizmann Institute in Israel, the NYU School of Medicine with two years as a Howard Hughes Medical Fellow, followed by a residency in Pediatrics at NYP Weill Cornell Medical College. During his residency, he developed an interest in more translational questions working with Dr. James Bussel to test a novel combination of dexamethasone and rituximab for pediatric patients with chronic idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP).
