Dr. Pamela Becker is a board-certified UCI Health hematologist who specializes in the treatment of hematologic malignancies, in particular, acute myeloid leukemia (AML), myelodysplastic syndrome and bone marrow transplantation.

Her clinical expertise also includes the treatment of plasma cell leukemia, acute promyelocytic leukemia, acquired aplastic anemia, Faconi anemia, chronic myeloid leukemia, myelodysplastic syndrome and Gaucher disease. She is also an integral part of the Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant and Cellular Therapy Program at UCI Health Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Becker earned a medical degree and PhD at Harvard Medical School in the Harvard-MIT Health Sciences and Technology Program in Boston, Mass. She completed an internal medicine internship and residency at Beth Israel Hospital/Harvard Medical School in Boston, followed by a fellowship in hematology at Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Conn.

She went to UCI from the University of Washington, where she developed game-changing precision medicine protocols to boost blood cancer treatments and expand the spectrum of drugs that may benefit patients. Her research studies include the mechanism of cell adhesion-mediated chemotherapy resistance in AML, hematopoietic stem cell gene therapy for an inherited disorder of DNA repair, and precision therapy for AML and multiple myeloma, based on high-throughput drug sensitivity testing.

Becker is the author or co-author of more than 170 publications and is a frequent speaker at numerous national and international conferences.
