Carmelita Escalante, MD, is Professor and Department Chair in the Department of General Internal Medicine, Division of Internal Medicine at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.  

Dr. Escalante is an active researcher, serving as Principal Investigator on numerous studies related to fatigue and other symptoms in patients with cancer and other conditions including bone marrow failure: A condition that occurs when the bone marrow stops making enough healthy blood cells. The most common of these rare diseases are aplastic anemia, myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) and paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH).
