Graduated in Medicine (1997) and PhD in Clinical Medicine (2003) from the Ribeirão Preto Medical School of the University of São Paulo (FMRP-USP) and medical residency in Hematology and Hemotherapy (2001) from the Hospital das Clinicas of FMRP-USP. He did postdoctoral studies at the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland, USA, where he also worked as a Staff Scientist at the Hematology Branch until 2011.

Michael Burke, MD
Dr. Michael Burke is an Associate Professor at the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin (CHW) in the Division of Hematology/Oncology/Blood & Marrow Transplantation. He is Director of the Pediatric Leukemia & Lymphoma Program at CHW and Co-Director of the Developmental Therapeutics Program where he oversees all early phase clinical trials (Phase I and II studies) at CHW.

Imad Tabbara, MD
Dr. Tabbara has researched blood and bone marrow stem cell transplant. He established the bone marrow transplant program at The GWU Medical Center in 1992 and has performed several hundred stem cell transplants treating patients with leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma and myelodysplastic syndrome. Additional areas of interest for Dr. Tabbara are breast and lung cancers.
Angela Smith, MD, MS
Angela Smith joined the Department of Pediatrics in July 2008 in the Division of Hematology/Oncology/Blood and Marrow Transplantation and became Director of the Division Blood and Marrow Transplantation in 2019.
