She received her BSN degree at North Carolina Central University and then went on to obtain a Masters in Nursing Education. She is a member of her local Oncology Nursing Society Chapter and volunteers as the program chair.  She has also volunteered as an Awards Reviewer for the National Oncology Nursing Society.  She worked in the industry for 10 years as a Clinical Nurse Educator presenting to patients, nurses, physicians, and social workers.  She has also had poster presentations on teaching patients with the use of analogy displayed at an ONS national meeting.
