Jayshree Shah is a nurse practitioner at the John Theurer Cancer Center, Hackensack University Medical Center. Ms. Shah earned her bachelor’s degrees in Public Health from Rutgers, The State University, and Nursing from Seton Hall University. She received her master’s degree in Nursing from University of Medicine and Dentistry. Ms. Shah has experience working in the leukemia division where she has taken care of patients with a wide range of cancers including MDS, aplastic anemia, myeloproliferative disorder (MPD), Acute myeloid leukemia (AML), acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), and certain types of lymphomas. In addition to publishing articles in many nursing journals about different types of leukemia, MDS, and iron overload related to MDS, Ms. Shah works with many patients and their caregivers by providing education to assist them in learning about their cancers and guiding them through different treatment modalities. She notes “I feel blessed every day that I am part of their lives educating, treating, and providing social support while they are under my care.”
