Sending your child back to school after treatment for bone marrow failure: A condition that occurs when the bone marrow stops making enough healthy blood cells. The most common of these rare diseases are aplastic anemia, myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) and paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH). Bone marrow failure can be acquired (begin any time in life) or can be… disease can be scary. AAMDS created the Supporting Students with Bone Marrow Failure Diseases guide to make this easier.  This guide provides the information need to create a safe and supportive school environment for your child.  It gives basic disease information, an overview of the challenges the student may fact, and guidance for supporting the student’s re-entry into school.  Share a copy of this guide with your child’s teacher, school nurse, school administrator, and other school personnel.
