AAMDSIF Sam Jordan Research Fund

Samuel Lamar Jordan, actor and playwright, was born on January 31, 1969 and grew up in the Boston area. He received a degree in theatre performance from the University of Memphis 1993

As a student, he gave a number of highly com-mended performances, receiving the 1992-93 Memphis Theater Award. He founded the “hOstage tHeater cOmpany” and produced six plays, including two that he wrote. For three years, he was coordinator of the Directors’ Festival at the Bailiwick Theater. In 1998, he co-starred in episodes of the Early Edition and E.R. television series. He was a member of the Memphis Friends Meeting of The Religious Society of Friends.

In June 2000, he was suddenly struck ill with aplastic anemia.   After a brief battle, he passed away in August 2000.

To honor Sam and raise money for his research fund, Sam’s friends organized the Middlesex Century Bike Ride, and they ride each year in his memory.
