Would you like to connect with other patients and families in your own town?

AAMDSIF is building Community Connections - volunteer-led local support groups - to create ongoing, local organizations supporting patients and families, and raising awareness and support for AAMDSIF programs. Learn more.

Community Connections:

  • Connect patients and families with each other to provide a local resource for peer support, information exchange, and education
  • Connect patients and families with us, as a primary aspect of our mission
  • Engage volunteers for the purpose of generating awareness among patient and health professional groups, as well as the greater community in which you live
  • Create advocates to boost public support for AAMDSIF
  • Enable us to work in new locations where patients need our support

Each community will look slightly different from another community. It’s up to the members of the local community to decide how they want their group to function. Each community will determine their own activities, with as much AAMDSIF guidance and support that they need.

Many Community Connections also function as an enhanced support group, meeting on a regular basis with speakers they invite to address issues of importance to its members.
