I am a registered nurse and have spent the last 11 years
working in a ten bed outpatient infusion center. Over the past decade, my
colleagues and I have cared for many aplastic anemia and MDS patients.
We nurses build close relationships with not only the patients, but their
families, due to their frequent transfusions of blood and platelets.
I have been a nurse for thirty two years and this has been one of the most
rewarding departments I have worked in. Our patients become an extended
family and it is very fulfilling to see the difference we make in their
lives. With each drop of blood, we watch their symptoms disappear and
their positive attitudes are contagious
