Patient Travel Assistance Fund | Aplastic Anemia and MDS International Foundation

Patient Travel Assistance Fund

AAMDSIF seeks to ensure that all bone marrow failure patients can see a specialist to seek the best course of treatment. The Foundation can help cover travel costs for a patient and one companion caregiver when seeing a specialist for a second opinion.

Bone marrow failure diseases are rare, so it is possible your local community hematologist has seen very few patients with aplastic anemia, MDS or PNH. Seeking a second opinion from a specialist who has treated many cases, and is up to date on the most current research and treatment, is something the Foundation feels is important.

A specialist can be an important addition to your support team. This specialist can be an excellent partner to your local hematologist. It can be reassuring to know your local hematologist has an expert already lined up who is familiar with your case.

AAMDSIF may be able to provide financial aid up to $3,000 per eligible, U.S.-based patient with demonstrated financial need. These funds can be used to cover:

  • Travel expenses for the patient and one compaion caregiver to see a specialist for the first time
  • A medical co-pay to see the specialist (medication and medication copays are not covered)
