AAMDSIF (www.aamds.org) and Public Citizen (www.citizen.org) are pleased to announce that Public Citizen’s 2018 Phyllis McCarthy Annual Public Interest Award has been awared to to Elise Harper, Database and Office Manager at the Aplastic Anemia and MDS International Foundation (AAMDSIF).

Elise joined AAMDSIF in 2009 as a volunteer and immediately became indispensable to the staff. She was hired in 2010 and now manages the Foundation’s database, handles all administrative projects and support for the finance and development teams.

One of her most important tasks is supervising three special needs high school students who spend six hours per week at the AAMDSIF office, learning basic office skills. About this award, AAMDSIF Executive Director Neil Horikoshi, said “As an aplastic anemia patient myself, I know how important Elise is to patients, families and caregivers. I’m proud of her -- for her many contributions here at the office here at the office , and for her work to help others in so many ways.”
