For patients with chronic and potentially life threatening illnesses like aplastic anemia, MDS and PNH, creating a strong healthcare team is critical to receiving your best care and treatment. Although a physician with expertise in treating people with your disease is certainly an important part of your healthcare team, there are many other healthcare professionals you will want to consider when creating your team. These include nurses, social workers, psychologists, nutritionists, exercise physiologists, physician assistants, and others. Each can play a vital role in supporting and optimizing your physical and emotional well being.

To help you create the strongest team possible, we are offering this educational and interactive webinar and panel discussion. This online program will help you make sense of the types of healthcare professionals you might have on your team. For each role, we will describe what these professionals do and how they might benefit you. We will also provide you with will some simple steps you can take to proactively enlist these healthcare professionals as part of your personalized healthcare team. As always, plenty of time will be left for your questions.

By participating in this webinar you will:

  • Become familiar with the variety of healthcare providers available to you
  • Understand how various types of care can benefit you.
  • Learn how to ask for different kinds of help.

This webinar highlights pillar one of our Standing Up for Your Health program. This program was developed during 2010 with input from many patients, family members, and healthcare professionals. It focuses on five essential things – we call them the five pillars – that strong self-advocates and powerful patients do to make sure they receive their best care and treatment.
