Metro DC Hope, Steps & A Cure: July 11, 2010
The Metro DC Hope, Steps & A Cure Walk was a huge success!
There were more than 200 registered walkers, 10 walk teams, and over $10,000 was raised from this event!
In conjunction with our 2010 Annual Patient and Family Conference held in metro DC, we held an exciting, energizing, and emotion-filled Hope, Steps & A Cure walk.

After the walkers checked in and the conference attendees gathered, the official program started. AA&MDSIF Executive Director John Huber gave opening remarks, and Chairman of the Board Neil Horikoshi welcomed the group, discussed the importance of the walk, and introduced the Grand Marshalls. Following the remarks, volunteers were thanked, sponsors were recognized, and top fundraisers were congratulated.
Following a moment of remembrance and a group photograph, the walk began through downtown Bethesda! The walkers strolled along the busy streets of Bethesda, attracting the attention of people in the city. Then, the walk continued along the scenic and historic Capital Crescent Trail, where participants could enjoy the cool shade and scenic park area along the 3 mile walk.

The walk helped increase awareness for bone marrow failure disease as the line of red shirts walked through the streets of downtown Bethesda, Maryland and along the scenic Capital Crescent Trail. It was a wonderful day of spreading awareness for bone marrow failure disease, raising money for the programs and services of AA&MDSIF to benefit patients and families, and connecting with other patients and families.
