Learn More About Hope, Steps & A Cure
Anyone can take part - children, adults and seniors. Plan a neighborhood or community walk - long or short, outdoors or indoors. Involve family & friends, neighbors and other patients & families. End your walk with a picnic or BBQ.
You can design a walk that fits your interests and time line!
What type of walk event do you want to organize? There's no "one size fits all" walk - there's a place for you in the Hope, Steps & A Cure Walk! Consider these walk ideas:
- Neighborhood Walk: This walk can be planned in your neighborhood and end with a barbeque or block party. By gathering friends and neighbors, this is a simple way to start.
- Community Walk: This walk can be planned at your high school track, local mall or even your local park. At the end of the walk, you can offer refreshments or activities. The more people you involve, the greater impact you'll make and the more funds you'll raise.
- City-Wide Walk: This is a big-scale walk through your town or in a large park. Many more members of your town will be involved and with larger numbers, you'll do a great job of spreading awareness.
Fast Start
Want to plan a walk in 6 weeks? Here's your guide:
- 6 weeks out: Ask for Help! Ask your family, friends and colleagues to volunteer to help. You'll want 2-3 people minimum as your organizing committee.

- 4 weeks out: Spread the Word! Email your invitation with a link to FirstGiving.org. Ask friends and family to volunteer to help, to walk and to give. Reach out to civic & religious organizations you are involved with. Order shirts.
- 3 weeks out: Check Final Details! Print signs and other materials for event location. Gather donations of refreshments. Stay in touch with your volunteers.
- 2 weeks out: The Home Stretch! Send reminders to walkers and volunteers. Double check supplies and materials.
