 The Harry Carson Scholarship Fund

Established in 2006 by NFL Hall of Famer, former NY Giant Harry Carson in honor of his son Donald who is an aplastic anemia survivor, the one-year scholarships are designed to assist students with bone marrow failure diseases to continue their education in college, university or vocational school programs.

The Aplastic Anemia & MDS International Foundation manages the program in concert with Scholarship America. Recipients were selected from more than thirty applicants based on academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience and educational goals and aspirations.

Thanks to Harry Carson, and the other supporters of this fund for helping these talented students achieve their dreams.The 2008-09 Harry Carson Scholarship Recipients include:

  • Leandra A. Argyros, New Port Richey , FL studying Pre-Med/Spanish at  New College of Florida
  • Abigail M. Hexamar, Massillon, OH studying Business Management at Ashland University
  • Jaime L. Miller, Myrtle Beach, SC studying Mathematics at the College of Charleston
  • Linh P. Phan, Houston, TX studying Finance at the University of Houston, Clear Lake
  • John S. Scudder, Mohawk, NY studying Chemistry at Boston University    * Sierra E. Tynan, Dedham, MA studying Fashion Merchandising at Bay State College
  • Ruthanna J. Williams, Newfoundland, PA studying Music Education at Mansfield University of Pennsylvania
