Harry Carson and son Donald Carson

Established in 2006 by NFL Hall of Famer, former NY Giant Harry Carson in honor of his son Donald who was diagnosed with aplastic anemia during his undergraduate studies, the one-year scholarships are designed to assist students with bone marrow failure diseases to continue their education in college, university or vocational school programs. The Aplastic Anemia & MDS International Foundation manages the program in concert with Scholarship America.
This year each of the eight students received $6,250; they were selected from more than thirty applicants based on academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience and educational goals and aspirations.

- Bridget N Casey, Monrovia, CA studying Theology at Fuller Theological Seminary
- Abigail M. Hexamar, Massillon, OH studying Business Management at Ashland University
- Jaime L. Miller, Myrtle Beach, SC studying Mathematics at the College of Charleston
- Linh P. Phan, Houston, TX studying Finance at the University of Houston, Clear Lake
- John S. Scudder, Mohawk, NY studying Chemistry at Boston University
- Sierra E. Tynan, Dedham, MA studying Fashion Merchandising at Bay State College
- Ruthanna J. Williams, Newfoundland, PA studying Music Education at Mansfield University of Pennsylvania
Congratulations to all of the outstanding students who applied this year. Also, congratulations to Donald Carson who received his Masters degree from Hampton University on Mother's Day and who will begin medical school at Virginia Tech University in August.
